It’ s only normal that when your kids see that you love something, they are going to want to try it also! But as parents, many of us have tendency to push our kids to hard to soon. We want them to love the same things as us, to be good and to be motivated… I see many people pushing their kids into kitesurfing, surfing, snowboarding.. before the child even feels ready or motivated. In the end? The opposite effect.. they get scared, or feel to pressured, and they stop wanting to try. They associate it with negative feelings and instead decide to do something else!
So for me as a mom, I’ve figured out the best way to get my kids into what I love to do, is to share it with them in a no- pressure way.. wait for them to want to try, to want to learn. Wait for them to ask for it! … and they always do! If they see how much you love to be in the water and how much fun you have, its a natural thing for them to want to try and do the same!
I was patient with my two, and now im so happy to see that they start to love the water as much as I do.. they ask for it, they start to need it, and in time, it will become their passion also! We had an amazing day on the water with Kari Schibevaag in Dakhla, Morocco.. ideal conditions for getting the little ones in the water!
So go have fun with your kids, let them enjoy the same stuff you do, nothing better than to share your passion with the little guys!
